In this article, we seek to present the terms of a genealogy of will that faces the problematization of the sexuality device and the ways in which, through this device, it is possible to govern individuals. Our objective is to present the guiding bases of a research entitled “Foucault and the government of the will”. It is about outlining the field of work and defending the relevance of its results, in light of Foucault's genealogy of subjectivity. Based on this genealogy, the problematization of the ways in which pathologizations of sexuality became possible in contemporary times, presupposes a proper understanding of the articulation between the Christian experience of the flesh and the modern device of sexuality.
