A Língua dos Papagaios, a Diferença e o Ser

Abstract: In this paper I examine, in the first place, the Aristotelian developments about the "psittacism" or "language of the parrots” (Sophistici Elenchi). The results of these analyses will allow us to examine, next, some observations and rules concerning the relationships among genus and differentia (Topics VI). I consider, finally, an argument of Metaphysics B, in which Aristotle, arguing from this observations and rules, defends his famous dictum according to which being is a not a genus.
