The object of this essay is a critical analysis of the contemporaryview of Jürgen Habermas on the role of religion in public sphere.Based on a close reading of two recent papers of Habermas on theabove subject-matter, the essay points to the changes in Habermas’sthought on the theme and offers a comparison between that view andthe preceding one. It also presents the notion of post-secular society,adopted by Habermas in order to warrant his change of opinion aboutthe public role of religion. After the analysis of those papers, a criticalevaluation is presented.
