The article intends to introduce some of the main problems that arise from the coexistence of two competing conceptions of emancipation in Marx’s theory, namely, the self-emancipation of the proletariat through its active and constitutive role in the revolutionary process, and emancipation characterized by economic determination in present economic dynamics of capitalism, which would create the technical, social and organizational preconditions for proletarian emancipation.
