Do poderio tecnológico ao dever de responsabilidade: sobre a crítica à tecnociência em Hans Jonas e Günther Anders

Contemporary civilization is characterized by a disturbing lack of balance. On the one hand, the enormous technological power achieved. On the other, our blatant inability to deal with the effects of this power and deliberate on its responsible and consequent employment. The theme of the increasing discrepancy between technological power and the corresponding duty of responsibility, whose consequences are catastrophic, occupies a central place in both the work of Günther Anders and that of Hans Jonas. In the present work, we investigate the different proposals elaborated by these two thinkers in the attempt to overcome the indicated discrepancy, one of eminently ethical content, another of predominantly aesthetic nature. In doing so, we seek to acknowledge a common lack in these different proposals: both disregard the possibility of restructuring the techno scientific activity itself, in order to make it capable of giving attention to fundamental values in its development.
