JUÍZO E SENSAÇÃO EM TOMÁS DE AQUINO

In this paper, we wil examine the notion of sensible judgement, that is, the judicative aspect that can be found in acts of sensation, which is irreducible to the intellectual judgment. Our guiding thread will a comparison and contrast between that judicative aspect and the one found in the second operation of judgement. We will show that the senses judge insofar as they reflect in themselves only partially, proportionately to the complete reflection found in the predicative complex. These two different kinds of reflection determine the different ways one can say intellect and senses are true. As a result, we will find that sensible judgement is not dissociable from sensible apprehension, insofar as it constitutes the cognitive nature of the senses.
