Maquiavel e o republicanismo inglês

Since the publication of John Pocock´s book, The Machiavellian Moment: Florentine Political Thought and the Atlantic Republican Tradition (1975), English republicanism has commonly been interpreted as a clear manifestation of Machiavellian republicanism. The purpose of this article is to discuss this interpretation, examining the principles of Machiavellian republicanism and Marchamont Nedham´s political writings that improved its knowledge in England.
