It is a question of reflecting on the erasure of the name of women philosophers in the canonical narrative of 17th century Philosophy. This gender oppression is part of a broader set of oppressions derived from the organization of capitalism at that time. The so-called “women’s quarrel” (querelle des femmes), a debate between feminists and misogynists that began in the 15th century, but reinforced in the 17th, highlights gender oppressions, but must be placed in relation to the colonial violence that characterized the 17th century.
