OLDENBURG: O MAIS PROLÍFICO CORRESPONDENTE DE ESPINOSA

This article aims to compose a biography of Henry Oldenburg (ca. 1615-1677), presenting a portrait somewhat reliable of one of Spinoza’s main correspondents, in the concreteness of his life. From the bibliographic collection, we intended to answer the question that is an essential part of the background of the most enduring and prolific letter exchange with the Dutch philosopher: who is Oldenburg? Above all, it was necessary to present the humanity of such an important character, in order to avoid that he became to the reader a mere faceless individual to whom Spinoza assigned a few sentences.
