Para uma análise do critério schleiermacheriano de interpretação das obras de Platão

F.E.D. Schleiermacher (1768-1834) foi o criador do método interpretativo das obras de Platão cujo influxo praticamente determinou o modo como os platonizantes cunharam e desenvolveram a moderna imagem do filósofo ateniense. Não obstante isso, o paradigma hermenêutico schleiermacheriano suscita numerosos problemas quando confrontado com a crítica que Platão dirige à escritura, contida na parte final do Fedro (274b — 278e) e no excursus filosófico da Carta VII (340b - 345c), bem como com a tradição indireta colhida em alguns excertos escritos por discípulos do ateniense e por filósofos posteriores. O que pretendemos demonstrar neste artigo é que a convicção schleiermacheriana da autonomia da palavra escrita acabou por condicionar o pensamento platônico num arcabouço conceitual que lhe é estranho e que, portanto, não pôde oferecer dele uma imagem historicamente fidedigna e filosoficamente adequada. Schleiermacher (1768-1834) was the creator of the Plato's interpretative method whose influence has determinated the scholar's way of thinking the modern image of the Athenian philosopher. Nevertheless, the tools of Schleiermacher's hermeneutical model raise doubts when faced up with the censure which Plato addresses to the writing in the final part of Phaedros (274b - 278e) and in the philosophical excursus of the VII Letter (340b - 345c), as well with the indirect tradition extracted from some fragments written by Athenian's disciples and posterior philosophers. The point we intend to demonstrate in this article is that schleiermacherian's conviction which sustains the thesis about the autonomy of the written word has tied up the platonical thought in a strange framework that is not able to offer a reliable image, philosophical and historically solid.
