2010Rodrigo Hayasi Pinto. Pascal e a questão dos limites do conhecimento. Cadernos Espinosanos, n. 24, p. 67-92, 2010.3
The main purpose of this article is to discuss the theory of knowledge by the French philosopher Blaise Pascal (1623-1662). Starting from the opuscule entitled “The Geometrical Spirit and the Art of Persuading”, we will try to show Pascal’s epistemological concerns on the idea of science’s foundation. We will emphasize a concept that seems to be emphasized in great part of his work as a experimental physicist and philosopher: it is the realization of the knowledge’s limits. According to us, the comprehension of such limits is essential for the understanding of how new theorems are produced in geometry and how the hypothesis are justified in the empirical context.
