Querer ter razão: vontade e intelecto na Dialética erística de Schopenhauer

This paper proposes an interpretation of the struggle between intellect and will in Schopenhauer’s Eristic Dialectics. We present a problem arising from his criticism of the human faculty of knowledge, especially from a conception which imputes to this faculty a higher ontological status concerning the functions of the organism as a whole. We further propose that Schopenhauer’s conception about knowledge implicitly involves a proto-perspectivism, by supposing that intellect is driven by the will. At the end, we consider the possibility of grasping objective truths beyond the directions the will imposes on the intellect.
