Raça, violência e biopolítica: dos estados de exceção aos corpos de exceção

This article aims to mobilize the critical reception of Michel Foucault’s concept of biopolitics through the themes of exception, race, and political violence, retracing what might be called “biopolitical sovereignty”, with an emphasis on exploring the colonial matrix or pattern of power and sovereign violence in modern times. To this end, the intersections of Giorgio Agamben’s and Achille Mbembe’s works with Foucault’s reflections on the governance of populations and Carl Schmitt’s concept of sovereign exception will be explored, along with the articulation of “territories” to “bodies of exception”, as proposed by Sidi Barkat.
