2025Céline Spector, Thomaz Kawauche. Rousseau e a moral experimental. Discurso, p. 108-122, 2025.4
The article takes the the hypothesis that Rousseau wants to establish with Émile a new “experimental morality,” determining “principles,” “maxims,” and even “laws” based on observed “facts” or moral phenomena. The kind of education he envisions does not aim to create guardians, philosopher-kings, or masters. It is intended rather to form a modern citizen, for even without taking part in the exercise of sovereign authority, he will play an essential role in his community.
