Sade's violent eroticism blurs in every reader the nature of what is desirable. It is part of a world of fantasy where the limits of the body are themselves blurred. Sade's massacres are not only an illustration of a materialistic monism contrary to any kind of spirituality: destruction leads to the creation of new bodies, explores new limits.
