2015Renata Romolo Brito. Soberania e poder em Sobre a Revolução de Hannah Arendt. Cadernos de Filosofia Alemã: Crítica e Modernidade, v. 20, n. 1, p. 127-140, 2015.2
This article aims to analyze the notion of abolition of sovereignty proposed by Arendt. I defend that you cannot dissociate her critique of sovereignty from her critique of nationalism and human rights, and that Arendt’s conclusion regarding human rights – that is, rights have meaning only in political spaces of reflection and discussion – must be extended to the notion of sovereignty. The critique of sovereignty shows the need to bring any issue to the agenda of the political discussion, and her proposal is to rethink sovereignty according to a new concept of power.
