Sobre algumas repercussões da ontologia do social-histórico de Castoriadis para a teoria sociológica

The article is an exposition of some of the foundations of Cornelius Castoriadis’ understanding of the social-historical, guided by a social-theoretical perspective. I reflect on the senses in which Castoriadis’s consideration of social ontology can help us rethink, and eventually reconfigure, the domain of social-theoretical reflection on the world. At the same time, it seeks to measure the scope of the reordering that the presuppositions of this ontology imply for the presuppositional level – ontological, epistemological, and methodological elements – and theoretical level – categories, concepts, and general statements – in sociology. In constructing his understanding of the social-historical, Castoriadis not only postulated a new form of intelligibility, but also faced the need to think about transitions, such as the passages from monadic interiority to primary social intersubjectivity (from being to social), and from this to stabilized social-historical configurations (from social to society), thereby approaching some of the topoi and some of the levels of theorization that make up what we call sociological theory. The text closes programmatically with some challenges that the thought of Castoriadis bequeaths to social-theoretical reflection on the world.
