SPECIES E COGNIÇÃO EM TOMÁS DE AQUINO

RESUMO: O texto a seguir, de caráter expositivo, apresenta reflexões sobre algumas argumentações elencadas por Tomás de Aquino relativas à sua consideração filosófica do processo de cognição humana, sobretudo na intrincada relação entre sensação e intelecção. O principal problema teórico analisado dentro deste contexto se diz na abordagem de certas implicações, herdadas da tradição aristotélica, geradas pela distinção, tanto de ordem natural quanto de operação, entre sentidos e intelecto. Assim, a doutrina tomista da species, apresentada pelo autor como resolutivas de vários impasses gnosiológicos, é tradada pela tradição de comentadores em duas linhas interpretativas distintas, a saber: o Realismo Direto e o Representacionalismo.PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Species; Intelecção; Universal; Abstração.ABSTRACT: The following text, of an expository character, presents reflections on some arguments listed by Thomas Aquinas regarding his philosophical consideration of the human cognition process, especially in the intricate relationship between sensation and intellection. The main theoretical problem analyzed in this context is related to the approach of certain implications, inherited from the Aristotelian tradition, generated by the distinction, both natural and operational, between senses and intellect. Thus, the Thomist doctrine of species, presented by the author as resolving several gnosiological impasses, is translated by the tradition of commentators in two distinct interpretative lines, namely Direct Realism and Representationalism.KEYWORDS: Species; Intellection; Universal; Abstraction.
