TRADUCTION ET RAISON PRATIQUE: ENTRE RICŒUR ET GRANGER

By locating the question of translation between two philosophers, Ricœur and Granger, this paper does not attempt to get rid of empirical investigations in Translation Studies for the sake of vague and abstract speculation. Rather, the goal is to insist on the importance of translation for the definition of contemporary rationality, by insisting on certain aspects of the philosophy of language that are all too often neglected. Indeed, to underline the fundamental role of translation within linguistics (whereas the 20th century tradition frequently bestowed it only with a secondary one) allows one to account for the complexity of semantics. Thereby appears the epistemic originality of clinical rationality, an interpretive form of the knowledge of singularities – as an example, one can analyze question of multilingual corpora. Finally, one can consider the necessary re-translation as the sign of the specific – decentered – reflexivity that suits this more plastic rationality.
