Um vazio paradoxal? Entre pascal e a psicanálise

This article seeks to reveal how Pascal and the psychoanalytical approach, specifically Freudian and Lacanian, thought of the experience of a finite human being in the face of a paradoxical situation, since the proposals of psychoanalysis and Pascal, although two centuries apart, have common points that perhaps help to clarify their own positions. In this context, the hypothesis that we discuss below is that both Pascal and psychoanalysis form their categories from an attentive observation of human behavior which seeks to understand why a constant feeling of emptiness marks the human experience. Thus, our investigation will be carried out through, on the one hand, the comparison of the Pascalian concepts of divertissement and grace with, on the other hand, the metapsychological ideas of das Ding,representation, instinct and fantasy of psychoanalysis.
