2022Carlos Augusto de Oliveira Carvalhar. A CRÍTICA ÉTICA AO REALISMO ESTÉTICO EM PLATÃO. Revista Dissertatio de Filosofia, v. 56, p. 213-241, 2022.2
It will be argued that in Plato there would be an attack on the realist art style, a novelty at that time. A definition of what this realism is will be presented, using examples in visual art and also, briefly, in poetry. The communion of philosophical areas in Platonic criticism will be highlighted, since not only aesthetics, but also epistemology, ontology, and ethics are present in the ideal that defines art as a simulacrum of reality. The question of mimesis and the difference in perspective between the Laws and books III and X of the Republic will also be addressed.
