A estética em Karl Philipp Moritz: entre a psicologia e a autonomia da obra de arte

Karl Philipp Moritz was known for his texts promoting an autonomous conception of the work of art, but also as an outstanding representative of the psychological tradition – positions that could, at first, seem contradictory considering the development of aesthetics in the second half of the 18th century. His essay On the Creative Imitation of the Beautiful, however, allows a more nuanced comprehension of the passage between these perspectives. Starting with a deep psychological analysis of artistic productivity, Moritz points to a plastic and objective force acting in the creative subjectivity, prior to the representation force and endowed with its own logic and language.
