A IMAGINAÇÃO NO DIÁLOGO ENTRE LEIBNIZ E SOPHIE CHARLOTTE

Imagination is an internal sense that brings together the impressions of external senses, says Leibniz in a letter to Queen Sophie Charlotte. This is one of the only definitions of the imagination that Leibniz formulates explicitly. We do not have the letters written by Sophie Charlotte, which is a sign of the silencing imposed on women for centuries, so we propose an exercise of imagination to reconstruct the importance of this dialogue. Other rare occurrences of the term “imagination” in Leibniz’s texts show the importance that the philosopher gives to the creative power of imagination. Would it be possible, from the relationship between memory and imagination, to suggest a political sense for the creative imagination?
