Psychologism is a topic in the 19th Century German Philosophy. The thesis on which psychologism is based is the thesis of the principle of immanence as the starting point for an epistemic foundation of Knowledge. We will concentrate on only one of the philosophers who will take this approach in this bias, the German philosopher Wilhelm Dilthey, known as a reference to the so-called Philosophy of Life (Lebensphilosophie). Indeed, in search of an answer to the question about the conditions of possibility of historical knowledge, Dilthey defended the postulation of the principle of immanence as the starting point for a new theory of subjectivity that would support a new Theory of Knowledge and compete for an alternative method to that of Explanatory Psychologies - based on materialistic assumptions. Our interest is directed to the investigation of the importance of the position of this principle in the Diltheyan project of the so-called Critique of Historical Reason, which constitutes a chapter in the history of the transition from Modern Philosophy to Contemporary Philosophy, marked by the emergence of new theories of subjectivity.
