This research establishes a comparison between Friedrich Nietzsche and Sigmund Freud's diagnoses about society ― for whom it is sick ― to show congruences and divergences in the authors' points of view. Nietzsche denots the repression of instincts as responsible for the malaise of mankind, (even though it was necessary for the advent of civilization). Freud sustains that the murder of primal father, it has triggered the brothers' repentance. Additionally, it has aroused the feeling of guilt. In this sense, parricides intended to mitigate it through the sacrifice of trieb, refraining from possessing women who had belonged to the father. In Freud's conception, the law imposed by the living father gained more strength after his death. In this sense, through the phylogenesis, it was introduced to the psyche as the superego. Among trieb and the prohibition of the superego, the malaise in civilization was presented. In conclusion, the current thesis highlights the authors' point of view according to their correlated and divergent perspectives.
