Do conceito de Gehalt em Walter Benjamin:: Para uma crítica do poema como crítica da vida

In Walter Benjamin works, the concepts of “material content” and “truth content” play a central role. Especially in the essay on Goethe and in the study of the german baroque, where these concepts support an attempt to estabilish a relationship between appearance and truth. The concept of content, Gehalt, however, overcomes the discussions of these works, and also relates to a universe structured within a work of art, called inner form, whose critical access originating there a certain experience of thought. Here we investigate the implications of this concept for the conception of an art criticism that goes beyond the dichotomies between form and content. For this, we perform a reading of youth Benjamin’s works on Hölderlin, Goethe and the german baroque, as well as of his correspondance with Adorno on Baudelaire essay.
