Eros e feminino: crítica espistemológica benjaminiana

This article presents aspects of the critique on logic elaborated by Walter Benjamin. Starting at the text "Über den Kreter", in which Benjamin reflects on the Cretan paradox, we present the immanent necessity of an epistemological critique of logic. We follow this path using the text "Sokrates", in which Benjamin characterizes the speech and character of Socrates. Socratic discourse could be described as forcing eidetic content into a logical presentation, acting through the principles of identity, unity, and abstraction. In this scenario, Socrates would be the mythical prototype of a structure of thought specifically masculine. In a parallel form, a feminine epistemological disposition could be called upon, one which the mythical origin could be traced back to Sappho, a character especially presented by Benjamin in two aphorisms of "Metaphysik der Jugend". What Benjamin presents is a specific relation to language, which does not reduce expression to simple representative communication, a relationship that would free the language from the expectations of logic.
