For David Hume, the rationale for the formation of the political life, from the standpoint of calculating reason, which unilaterally determine the government as a form of collective organization, in order to benefit from this, is unsustainable.Historically, there is no trace of such a founder event, making it impossible to recognize one’s own society as a result of such an act. As an alternative to the “original contract”, the maintenance of society and its political structures must be understood by accident, as a result of the sociability of individuals who, by necessity, submit to an authority and become accustomed to obedience. The importance of this social theory, in the context of an objection to contractualist tradition, is the subject of this analysis.
