HISTÓRIA DA LOUCURA COMO UM “TRATADO POLICIAL” EM MICHEL FOUCAULT: uma hipótese de leitura

This article seeks to present an interpretative hypothesis for the work History of madness (1961), by the French philosopher Michel Foucault. It is about situating a way of examiningthe 1961 text, giving special attention to the concept of police. This is because in this work, when analyzing issues such as medicine, madness, etc., Foucault constructed an interpretation of social devices related to the practice of confinement, which led to the birth of the modern police. Roughly speaking, the idea is to broaden a topic still little studied by the author, following the line of reasoning of Edgardo Castro (2019), who highlights that there are important reflections on the police in his work.
