Judith Butler leitora de Walter Benjamin: para uma crítica das políticas progressistas e identitárias

In this article we intend to show how Judith Butler embraces concepts well known to readers of Walter Benjamin to elaborate on contemporary national policies, with emphasis on sexual and secular policies. Our hypothesis is that the theme that pervades all of the philosopher’s work is that of subversion or critique of identity, whether it is used as a foundation for the feminist movement or for national policies. We shall see how Butler appropriates the notions of “continuous history”, “empty time”, “mythical violence”, “divine violence”, “commandment” (Gebot) and “messianism”.
