Although recognized as one of Nietzsche’s major sources, there are few studies dedicated to thoroughly discuss and evaluate the relationship between Paul Rée’s and Nietzsche’s work. This paper aims to show the importance of Nietzsche's dialogue with Rée to develop a project of naturalization of morals, a research program undertaken by Nietzsche from Human, too human. Under such reasoning, an exposition of Rée’s ideas will be accomplished, pointing out two different conceptions of naturalism and their consequences to the analyses upon the morality phenomenon made by Rée and Nietzsche, which will be exemplified through the interpretation of four aphorisms from Human, too human.
