Notas sobre aspectos metodológicos da utilização da metapsicologia na abordagem de problemas exógenos: Notes on methodological aspects of the use of metapsychology in the approach to exogenous problems

The aim of this article is to examine methodological aspects of certain modes of using metapsychology in the treatment of exogenous problems, as well as some of the important risks associated with such uses. To this end, in Section 1 we will present the notion of an extrapolative use of metapsychology – and, more specifically, the notions of metapsychologism and psychoanalytic methodologism. In Section 2, we will discuss aspects of this mode of employing metapsychology that are not commonly addressed within academic contexts. Finally, in Section 3, we will analyze a media case exemplifying such  extrapolative use, which we consider to have contributed to the naturalization of certain forms of inconsistency in the psychoanalytic approach to exogenous problems – namely, a particular explanation of Bolsonaro’s political behavior.
