O ANTI-AVERROÍSMO DE DUNS SCOTUS NO PRÓLOGO DA ORDINATIO: O SEGUNDO ARGUMENTO

In this study, an interpretation of the First Part of Duns Scotus’s Prologue to Ordinatio is offered, according to which that Part can be understood as a complex “anti-Averroistic” treatise. For that purpose, an analysis of the second argument of the “philosophers” against the necessity of the knowledge of supernaturally revealed truths shall be made. The analysis of that argument seems to be able to illustrate a specific form of “Averroism” and Scotus’s attitude on it, showing also, in a general sense, Scotist convictions about the relationship between theology and philosophy.
