O ESTATUTO DA ÁLGEBRA E DA GEOMETRIA NOS TEXTOS METODOLÓGICOS DE DESCARTES

This article aims to show that algebra plays a more fundamental role than geometry in the cartesian theory of knowledge. For this purpose, we have tried to show that resources for imaginative constructions are used, in Geometry, for only to promote the engagement of the classic geometer and to persuade him that algebric operations can be employed in geometry.
