This paper aims to analyze the 1844 Economic-Philosophical Manuscripts in view of the ethical dimension present in the critique of political economy. In general terms, the aim is to understand to what extent a certain conception of the human essence guides the critique. To this end, the investigation is divided into four moments, in the critiques of the “cynicism of political economy”, “alienated labor”, money and the “morality of political economy”.
