Potência da razão e Liberdade humana: uma análise do prefácio, axiomas e das quatro primeiras proposições da Parte V da Ética

This article presents the meaning of the synonymy between power of reason and human freedom in Ethics Part V, based on an analysis of its preface, axioms and the four first propositions. Along our analysis, we show why the power treated by Spinoza is not that of a free will but the power of reason or intellect that creates an empire over the affects, and the exercise of this government is that which gives meaning to the idea of human freedom in Spinoza.
