In this interview with Qiu Zeqi, professor at Peking University and internationally recognized intellectual, we explore aspects related to his academic trajectory and inquire about the complex relationship between technology and society, both in general and specifically in China. The focus of the questions lies within the field of Science and Technology Studies (STS) in China, addressing historical elements that shaped the foundations of Chinese society, as well as contemporary themes, challenges and their possible developments. Additionally, Professor Qiu offers thought-provoking reflections on Brazil-China relations across various sectors. The overarching objective is to understand these elements and their interplay with technology through an exploratory qualitative interview, drawing on the author’s articles and works. Thus, the interview contributes to a deeper comprehension of key themes in the STS field, recent processes of sociotechnical transformation in China, future perspectives associated with the evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, and reflections for Brazil and Latin America.
